A Detention Officer is responsible for the custodial work with the transportation, security, and supervision of inmates in Person County Detention Center. The Detention Officer performs a variety of duties relative to the care; direct supervision, desk duty, and the transportation of inmates. Detention Officer work is performed in accordance with the Person County Detention Center Policies and Procedures, North Carolina Health and Human Services and the North Carolina Sheriff’s Training and Standards.
A Detention Officers duty are performed under the direct supervision of a Corporal or Sergeant.
Knowledge of Federal, State and local laws governing the operation of the Person County Detention Center.
Knowledge of forms, records, and reports used by the agency.
Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time.
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with other employees.
