BEGINNERS THEATER 1

Dates: June 15 - 19, 2026 - Times: 9-10:30am

Ages: 5 - 10 - Cost: $50

This camp is the perfect introduction for your aspiring actor. Campers will explore different aspects of theater through a variety of fun theater games and activities. This camp is designed for all levels of experience and is a perfect companion to participating in our youth summer theater.

BEGINNERS THEATER 2

Dates: June 15 - 19, 2026 - Times: 11:30am - 1pm

Ages: 11-17 - Cost: $50

While this camp will be more advanced, it is still appropriate for all levels of experience. Campers will review important stage and theater elements through fun games and activities. Campers will also explore the audition process and learn tips to use when auditioning, in preparation for our youth summer theater.

African Drumming & Dance Camp

Patricia Hall lives in Danville, VA, where she runs Kuumba West African Dance Co.

She has been involved in many Kirby productions and has also taught dance for our annual 3rd grade field trips.

Dates: June 27, 2026 - Times: 10am-12pm

Ages: All Ages - Cost: $20 each camp

This 2 hours of fun will explore the history and cultural significance of this style of drum and dance. The first 45 minutes will focus on learning drumming techniques. The second 45 minutes will get campers out of their seat while learning different movements. The last 30 minutes will have campers moving their feet and feeling the beat as we put it all together

As a Person County native, Nicole is excited to once again share her love of dance with her community. Through her many years of dance education, both taking and teaching classes, Nicole knows one of the most important aspects of fostering a great learning experience is making sure everyone has fun.

“Exploring Seasons” Dance Camp - Cost: $60

Date: July 6-10, 2026, 9-11am

Ages: Rising 1st & 2nd grade

Come explore the four seasons through interpretive movement and dance. Each day will be a different theme, and parents are invited to attend a short presentation on Friday. Each season will have varying musical and dance movement themes as well as throwing some educational aspects in too.

“Decades Through Dance” Camp- Cost: $60

Date: July 6-10, 2026, 2-4pm

Ages: Rising 3rd-6th grade

Tired of hearing about the late 1900s from your kid? This is the dance camp especially for them. Here they will learn popular dances from several decades. While starting with the Charleston and Jitterbug, students will also learn dances such as the Hand Jive, the Twist, Jerk, the Robot, running Man and a few “newer” styles of dancing. The week will end with a special performance for the parents showing off all their new moves.

Zumba ® Kids and Zumba ® Kids Jr. classes are designed exclusively for kids to combine movement music and community in a class for children. These two classes are rockin’, high energy, dance parties, packed with specifically choreographed, kid-friendly routines, and all the music kids love like hip-hop, Reggaeton, Cumbia, and more. Zumba ® Kids and Zumba ® Kids Jr. inspire kids to express themselves through movement and play while effectively improving their overall health and well-being.

Ages: 7-11

Journey through the countries of Columbia and the Netherlands during this exploration camp. The students will interact with each country’s culture, focusing on dance. On Friday there will be a short presentation for the parents. 

STEAM Camps Taught by Kim Solomon

Kim Solomon is native to Roxboro and teaches for Person County Schools. She is creative, energetic and loves to motivate children to strive to be the best they can be!

Brain Busters

Dates: June 22-25, 2026 - Times: 10am-12pm

Ages: 8-12 Cost: $80

During this camp, students will use critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork skills to follow clues and solve brand-new mysteries each day. Campers will tackle hands-on challenges, play interactive games, and complete mind-stretching activities.

Each day, campers will dive into an exciting story and bring it to life through a hands-on art project inspired by the book. From colorful creations to imaginative designs, this camp is an artistic adventure for kids who love to read, create, and explore their creative side.

Krafty Kreations Camp

Dates: July 13-16, 2026 - Times: 10am-12pm

Ages: 6-12 Cost: $80

During this camp, students will have access to a wide variety of art and craft materials to explore their creativity and bring their ideas to life. Each day, the instructor will lead one guided craft project to introduce new techniques and inspire creativity.

Campers will also be encouraged to design and create their own projects using provided tools and materials, with teacher guidance and support available throughout the day.

Art with Ms. H Taught by Kristin Hernandez

Kristin, or “Ms H” as her students affectionately call her, teaches art at South Elementary school here in Roxboro.

Students may choose one session, multiple sessions, or the full-day option.

Single session: $30

In-between fee: $5 (for each break session if student is staying between camps)

All-Day Session: $80 (no in-between fee)

**The $5 in-between fee applies for each break between sessions if a student is not enrolled in the all-day camp. Schedule is designed so individual classes coincide with all-day camp activities.**

Mandala Magic- Monday, June 8, 8:30-10:30am - $30 - Ages 6-14

Kids will create intricate or playful mandalas using pens, markers, and paint.

Mini Sculptures from Cereal Boxes- Monday, June 8, 1:30-3:30pm - $30 - Ages 6-14

Using Use recycled materials (bottles, caps, cardboard) young artists will plan and create unique 3D sculptures.

Fantasy Creatures-Tuesday, June 9, 8:30-10:30am - $30 - Ages 6-14

Young artists will design their own imaginative creatures combining animals, humans, or mythical beings.

Jasper Johns -Tuesday, June 9, 11am-1pm - $30 - Ages 6-14

Students explore the art of Jasper Johns, focusing on his famous numbers series.

Using stencils, layering, and bright colors, students will create bold, abstract artworks that turn ordinary numbers into expressive designs.

Beginner Weaving: Tuesday, June 9, 1:30-3:30pm - $30 - Ages 6-14

Young artists will explore basic weaving techniques using yarn, fabric strips, and paper. By the end of class, each student will have a small woven wall hanging or mat to take home.

Nature Collage Mobiles: Wednesday, June 10, 8:30-10:30am - $30 - Ages 6-14

Young artists will design their own hanging mobiles using natural materials.

Magazine Mosaic Art: Wednesday, June 10, 11am-1pm - $30 - Ages 6-14

Young artists will cut images from magazines to create a mosaic portrait or abstract art.

Air-dry Clay Pinch Pots: Wednesday, June 10, 1:30-3:30pm - $30 - Ages 6-14

Young artists will explore basic pottery techniques while building pinch pots.

Optical Illusions: Thursday, June 11, 8:30-10:30am - $30 - Ages 6-14

Young artists will explore perspective and illusions like 3D drawings on flat paper.

Air-dry Clay Monsters: Friday, June 12, 11am-1pm - $30 - Ages 6-14

Exploring imagination, shape and texture, young artists will sculpt small whimsical monsters from air-dry clay.

Glow-in-the-Dark Art: Friday, June 12, 1:30-3:30pm - $30 - Ages 6-14

Young artists will experiment with lighting effects and color contrast while painting and drawing with glow in the dark paint and ink.

Paper Quilling Art

Young artists will roll thin strips of paper into coils and shapes to make decorative designs or pictures

Big Head Plaster Likeness Project : June 15-19 - 8am-12pm - $285 - Ages 6-14

In this multi-day camp, students will create a larger-than-life plaster sculpture of their head and face using a balloon and cardboard bowl armature as the base. Students will apply plaster to build form and structure, then finish their sculptures with paint, yarn, cellular and a variety of embellishments to highlight facial features, expression, and personality. Through this process, students explore scale, texture, and basic sculptural techniques while creating a one-of-a-kind artwork.

Attendance Note: This is a multi-day project, so attendance is important. If a camper misses a day, it may be difficult to catch up or complete the project as planned.

Painted Fabric Banner Project: June 15-19 - 12:30-3:30pm - $225 - Ages 6-14

In this multi-day camp, students will create their own abstract paintings on fabric using a canvas drop cloth as their painting surface. Over the course of multiple days, campers will explore color, shape, and texture to design a unique piece of art. Once dry, students can add embellishments or hang their work to display in the classroom or take home. This project encourages creative expression, experimentation, and confidence in color and composition.

Attendance Note: This is a multi-day project, so attendance is important. If a camper misses a day, it may be difficult to catch up or complete the project as planned.

*Lunch Option: If a camper is enrolled in both the morning and afternoon art sessions, they may bring a lunch to eat with the teacher and do not need to be picked up between sessions.
