Lost & Found

If you have a pet that has been lost, or you have found an animal, it is required by law to report them to local Animal Services or Animal Control as soon as possible. For pets lost or found in Person County, please contact us at 336-597-1741. Once you have called to report a lost or found pet, photos may be submitted by private message via our Facebook page, or as directed by staff.

When reporting, please provide your name, address, date and location where the pet was lost or found, and a detailed description of the pet. Photos are always recommended, as it helps greatly with identification.

Once reported, it is highly recommended to visit or call your local or surrounding Animal Shelters daily to see if the pet has been found, or reported missing by the owners. If you are looking for a lost pet, visiting the shelter is the best way to ensure positive identification. Animal Shelters receive multiple reports and animals daily, and it is possible pets may not be matched with reports. It is the responsibility of the owner to properly identify and reclaim a pet if lost.

To reclaim a pet from Person County Animal Services, you must be over the age of 18, present a current government ID, and have proof of ownership and Rabies vaccination.

Scanning for Microchips

It is important to have any found pet scanned for a microchip, even if there are identification tags on the pet. It is the best way to make sure we get the pet back to its rightful owner.
