Thank you for considering fostering with Person County Animal Services! Foster families provide temporary homes, care, and love to dogs and cats while they wait for their forever homes. Fostering helps pets leave the shelter environment and thrive in a home setting.

Foster Family Responsibilities

Foster families are responsible for:

• Providing daily care, socialization, and basic training
• Helping pets adjust to family and home life
• Bringing pets to scheduled vaccines and check-ups
• Communicating with potential adopters
• Attending adoption events when available

Pets are matched with foster homes based on the preferences and criteria listed in the Foster Volunteer Packet.

What the Shelter Provides

Person County Animal Services can provide supplies as needed, including:

• Food
• Crates
• Toys
• Other basic care items

Cat Foster Needs

Cat fosters may care for:

• Mother cats with kittens
• Young kittens
• Senior cats
• Cats with special needs

Ongoing Support

Our Volunteer Coordinator, Jessie Lipscomb, is available to support foster families, answer questions, maintain communication, and help arrange meet-and-greets with potential adopters.
