First, give the owners 24 hours to have a chance to find it. If it has tags, try to locate the owners. Take the pet to a local shelter, veterinarian or the Person County Microchip Scanning Station to scan for a microchip as well.
If you are unable to locate the owner, contact the shelter at 336-597-1741 to report the found animal. Include your name, contact information, where the animal was found and a description of the animal. We may ask you to take and send photos for better identification. You should also post on local apps, such as Nextdoor, Ring Neighbors app, Facebook, etc. (See our
Lost & Found page for links).
