Person County Animal Services is an animal shelter committed to providing housing, love, and new homes for strays and owner surrenders in Person County.
We also provide:
- Rabies Vaccinations
- Self-Service Bathing (proof of current Rabies vaccine required)
- Quarantine Services for Rabies Exposure & Bites (Visitation for pets under quarantine is by appointment ONLY and limited to ten minutes, supervised by shelter staff.
Person County Animal Services' Animal Control Division handles animal related complaints within Person County and enforces state and local animal laws and ordinances.
Animal Control Officers respond to calls involving:
- Animal Bites
- Rabies Exposures (Bats in living quarters of home, contact with wildlife, etc.)
- Injured Animals
- Strays (please note that stray calls are handled after all other higher priority calls have been completed and response time may be delayed)
Animal Control Officers DO NOT respond to calls involving:
- Deceased Animals (with the exception of possible Rabies Exposures)
- Trapped Cat Pickups (individuals are responsible for bringing all trapped cats to shelter)
- Owner Surrenders (please contact the shelter for Owner Surrender procedure)
All animal-related complaints should be reported by phone to 336-597-1741.
For after hour emergencies ONLY, call 9-1-1.
For deceased animal pickup in roadway, call Department of Transportation at 336-599-5255.
