State of Emergency Declared in Person County
On July 6, 2025, Person County began experiencing significant rain and flooding from Tropical Depression Chantal; and as a result of the storm, the County is experiencing road closures due to flooding, causing an interruption to county services and infrastructure.

Burn Ban Rescinded

Person County Burn Ban Expands Statewide Ban
Effective immediately, Person County prohibits all open burning across the unincorporated areas of Person County, including within 100 feet of an occupied dwelling. The ban applies to all open burning regardless of whether a permit was issued.
