Spuntech, a global developer, manufacturer and supplier of spunlace hydroentangled fabrics, has purchased the Person County North Park Site, 26 acres of county-owned property along North Park Drive. The property is adjacent to the company’s current facility at 555 North Park Drive, is located in the Federal Opportunity Zone and Foreign Trade Zone and will be used for future business needs.
The property conveyed is Governmental/Tract B as set forth in Plat Book 16 Page 381, in the Office of the Register of Deeds for Person County, North Carolina, containing 25.24 acres, more or less, having a Tax Map & Parcel No: A58 86.
In 2022, Person County received a grant from the Golden LEAF Foundation to clear and grade the county-owned North Park site. In October 2024, County Manager Katherine Cathey stated the parcel was valued at $500,000 based on an appraisal that took into account the property's tax value and the clearing and grading work that had been completed on the site as well as the work left to be done to develop the property. The offer received from Spuntech was $500,000. The Person County Board of Commissioners voted to approve the sale following a Public Hearing on October 15, 2024.
The sale of the property closed on February 24, 2025.
"We are delighted Spuntech is expanding operations in Person County," stated Brandy Lynch, Person County Economic Development Director. "A healthy and vibrant local economy depends on the well-being of a community's existing businesses."
Spuntech is one of Person County’s largest employers.
