On April 17th, 2021, Kirby Cultural Arts Complex (KCAC) in partnership with the Uptown Roxboro Group & Person County Tourism Development Authority (PCTDA) hosted a community art project for of “Out of the Blue & into the Arts,” this year’s title for the annual “Step Into the Arts” celebration!
Designed by Person County’s own pride and joy, Kate Lagaly, this beautiful mural started as a blank brick wall and was quickly filled with hues of green, yellow, purple and blue creating a colorful beacon welcoming everyone to Uptown Roxboro!
Painting started at 9 am and finished around 2:30pm with help from Lagaly and lots of friendly Personians! Painters from age 2 to 92 gathered together in one of Person County’s first face to face community events since March of 2020.

About the Artist:
Kate Lagaly lives and works in Roxboro, North Carolina. She has been making art all her life, and is devoted to her practice of drawing, painting and teaching on a daily basis. Lagaly sees Art as a constant companion and driving force, informing and inspiring every aspect of her life.
